Karen Impey

Karen is particularly interested in 12th-century English sculpture, and has worked at Richard Philp Fine Art for ten years, a gallery specialising in medieval sculpture. She has a M.A. in Art History from York University, Toronto, focusing on medieval architecture. Karen completed the early stage of a Ph.D. at the Courtauld Institute of Art – a project still to be completed; and is the IT-system coordinator for the Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture in Britain and Ireland.

Karen has been a member of the BAA Council since 2003, was the Honorary Conference organiser 2005-2009, and the Website Officer from 2006-present. After receiving a student scholarship to attend the annual conference in Carlisle in 2001, Karen discovered that being a member of the BAA community opens up amazing opportunities to discuss all aspects of studying medieval architecture with some of the most inspiring scholars in England and she has been happily involved with the BAA ever since.
