William Filmer-Sankey is a past Secretary of the Association. Having start life as an archaeologist in Suffolk, and written a thesis on the meaning of finger rings in the Early Medieval Germanic world, he moved to be Director of the Victorian Society. He currently leads the conservation team at Alan Baxter & Associates, an engineering and design practice with particular interest in the historic environment.
