Dr Richard Gem

Richard Gem joined the Association in 1971.  He served as Hon. Secretary from 1973 to 1975 (during which term he instituted the present series of medieval art and architecture conferences); he was President from 1983 to 1989.  He followed a career in heritage management, latterly as Secretary of the Cathedrals Fabric Commission, until his retirement.  At the same time he has pursued his ongoing academic research and publication in the field of European architecture from late Roman to Romanesque.
